Lagos Announces 2025 Land Use Charge with Early Payment Discount

The Lagos State Government has introduced the 2025 Land Use Charge bill, offering property owners a 15 percent discount for payments made within 30 days of receiving their bill.

Commissioner for Finance, Abayomi Oluyemi, announced this on the state government’s official website on Sunday. He encouraged property owners across the state to take advantage of the discount by making early payments before the deadline.

Oluyemi emphasized that the Land Use Charge is a vital source of revenue for maintaining and improving essential public infrastructure such as roads, healthcare facilities, schools, and security measures.

He stated, “Recent projects funded through taxpayers’ contributions include the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue and Red Lines, which are transforming urban mobility and reducing travel time; the construction and rehabilitation of key roads and bridges, which are easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity; the expansion of healthcare facilities, providing better access to quality healthcare for residents; and enhanced security measures, ensuring a safer environment for businesses and communities.”

Commissioner Oluyemi highlighted Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s ongoing vision to create a safe, livable, and globally competitive megacity. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to implementing policies that drive sustainable development, attract investments, and elevate Lagos to the status of one of the world’s most advanced cities.

“This is a call to action for all property owners to support this mission by fulfilling their civic duty and paying their Land Use Charge promptly. By doing so, they contribute directly to the growth and transformation of Lagos into a #Greater Lagos that all residents can be proud of.

“To ensure convenience and seamless payment, property owners can pay their Land Use Charge using various methods: Internet Banking; Bank Deposits at designated banks across the state; mobile payment through USSD codes; POS available at LUC offices; and Lagos Online Assistant,” he added.

The commissioner urged all property owners to take advantage of the 15 percent discount by paying early and playing their part in making Lagos a modern, thriving metropolis
