Port Harcourt Refinery Celebrates Six Months of Uninterrupted Operations

The Port Harcourt refinery has completed 180 days of continuous operation, a milestone celebrated by the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN). After more than 20 years of dormancy, the facility was rehabilitated with funding from Afreximbank and reopened in November 2024

PETROAN commended the professionalism of Tecnimont Nigeria Limited, the firm responsible for the rehabilitation project, and acknowledged the cooperation of host communities during the process. The association highlighted the refinery’s positive impact, including the steady supply of petroleum products like diesel, kerosene, and PMS, which has reduced the circulation of counterfeit fuel in the market.

Key stakeholders, including President Bola Tinubu and officials from NNPCL and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, were praised for their contributions to the successful revival and operation of the refinery. This achievement underscores the importance of collaboration and dedicated leadership in improving Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
