Reps Set December 15 Ultimatum for NNPCL on 2021 Audit

The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee has given the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited until December 15 to submit all outstanding documents and appear before lawmakers to address audit issues linked to expenditures from the 2021 financial year.

The committee chair expressed concerns over the company’s repeated failure to honour previous invitations or provide requested documentation. Lawmakers criticised the delays as obstructive to transparency and legislative oversight.

During the session, a letter sent by the company explained that the Group Chief Executive Officer was unavailable due to an official engagement at the Presidential Villa. Despite this, legislators insisted that the company must comply with the final deadline or risk further parliamentary action.

The pending audit issues include payments made for projects that were either abandoned or not executed, failure to deduct mandatory taxes, and instances where significant financial approvals were allegedly issued without authorisation from the company’s top leadership.

The committee emphasised that it expects full cooperation as it works to review federal spending and ensure adherence to financial regulations.
