FCMB Reports ₦177bn Profit in 2025, 141% Growth YoY

FCMB Group Plc has posted a profit after tax of ₦177 billion for the year ended December 31, 2025, a 141% increase from the ₦73.3 billion recorded in 2024.

The bank’s gross earnings rose to ₦1.13 trillion, up 42% from ₦794.4 billion the previous year, driven by a 61% increase in interest and discount income to ₦1 trillion. Net interest income more than doubled to ₦503 billion, reflecting strong lending activities across the group.

Non-interest income also contributed to growth, with fee and commission income rising 29% to ₦96 billion, though other operating gains fell to ₦28 billion from ₦93.3 billion in 2024 due to market adjustments.

On expenses, FCMB invested in human capital and infrastructure, with personnel costs increasing to ₦106 billion and general administrative expenses rising to ₦127 billion. Net impairment losses on financial instruments doubled to ₦86 billion, reflecting proactive risk management.

The bank’s total assets grew to ₦7.54 trillion, with loans and advances to customers reaching ₦2.29 trillion. Shareholders’ equity rose to ₦823 billion, supported by retained earnings. Basic earnings per share stood at ₦3.96, up from ₦2.46 in 2024.
