PremiumTrust Surpasses Capital Target Before 2026 Deadline

PremiumTrust Bank has announced that it has successfully met the N200 billion minimum capital requirement for national commercial banks, well ahead of the March 2026 deadline set by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The milestone was achieved through a combination of Rights Issues and private placement offerings as part of the ongoing banking sector recapitalisation exercise. The CBN has formally approved the bank’s capital raise.
Since its establishment in 2022, PremiumTrust Bank has recorded rapid growth, consistently breaking new ground in financial performance and customer satisfaction. This latest achievement not only highlights the bank’s strong financial standing but also reinforces its reputation as Nigeria’s fastest-growing bank.
By meeting the capital requirement, PremiumTrust Bank is now strategically positioned to expand its operations, strengthen its market share, and deliver innovative banking solutions that cater to individuals, businesses, and corporate clients across the country.
Dr. Emmanuel Efe Emefienim, CON, FCIB, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PremiumTrust Bank, described the accomplishment as a defining moment in the bank’s journey.
“Exceeding the N200 billion capital requirement in just three years of our existence reflects our superior financial performance, unwavering commitment to operational excellence, and the trust reposed in us by our shareholders, customers, and regulators. As Nigeria’s fastest-growing bank, we are uniquely positioned to lead the sector and deliver exceptional value to all stakeholders,” he stated.
PremiumTrust Bank’s track record of strong earnings, consistent profitability, and customer loyalty continues to set it apart in the financial services industry. With a strengthened capital base, the bank plans to expand its footprint across Nigeria, deepen financing in key sectors such as infrastructure and agriculture, and drive innovation in digital and retail banking.
The bank affirmed that its growth trajectory is built on a clear strategic vision, robust leadership, and a commitment to contributing to Nigeria’s economic development.
