Nigeria Has Recorded Zero Piracy Incidents In The Last Few Years – Minister Oyetola

The Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, has outlined key achievements recorded by the ministry and its agencies over the past year.

Speaking at a luncheon with the League of Maritime Editors, the minister highlighted major milestones, including zero piracy incidents, $700M port infrastructure upgrades, and the commissioning of the Funtua Inland Dry Port to decongest seaports and enhance trade.

The Executive Secretary/CEO of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Akutah Pius Ukeyima Esq., MON, FCILT, FInsTA, Ph.D., also spoke at the event, reaffirming the Council’s commitment to driving efficiency in the maritime sector. He emphasized the NSC’s role in promoting inland dry ports, strengthening port economic regulation, and advancing trade facilitation through initiatives like the National Single Window.
