SpaceX Targets Record $75bn Share Sale

SpaceX is seeking to raise $75 billion in what could become the largest public share offering in history, as the company pursues major investments in artificial intelligence, satellite communications, semiconductor manufacturing and space exploration.

The company disclosed in a regulatory filing that it plans to offer 555,555,555 shares at $135 per share, a move that would value the company at approximately $1.8 trillion.

The proposed offering places the Elon Musk-led company among the most valuable businesses globally and reflects growing investor interest in its space technology, satellite internet and artificial intelligence initiatives.

The planned share sale comes as SpaceX expands beyond its traditional launch services business into new areas including AI infrastructure, satellite-based computing and advanced semiconductor manufacturing.

According to the filing, the company intends to leverage its existing space technology capabilities to support future investments aimed at strengthening its position in emerging technology sectors.

They noted that the integration of artificial intelligence initiatives into SpaceX’s broader business strategy has strengthened expectations for future growth opportunities.

Earlier this year, the company integrated artificial intelligence operations developed through xAI into its broader technology ecosystem as part of efforts to expand its capabilities in advanced computing and machine learning.

SpaceX has also outlined plans to deploy satellite-based, solar-powered data centres designed to support the development and operation of future artificial intelligence systems.

In addition, the company recently announced plans to invest $55 billion in the construction of a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Texas.

The proposed facility is expected to produce chips used in artificial intelligence applications as well as robotics and other advanced technologies.

The proposed offering is also expected to further increase Musk’s influence within the global technology sector, where he already maintains interests across transportation, energy, communications and artificial intelligence businesses.

SpaceX’s satellite internet service, Starlink, remains one of the company’s most important revenue-generating businesses.

Since its launch, the service has expanded rapidly across international markets, providing broadband connectivity to millions of users around the world.

The company said Starlink currently serves approximately 10.3 million subscribers across 164 markets.

The service has become a major contributor to SpaceX’s financial performance by generating recurring revenue that supports the company’s broader space exploration and technology development activities.

Beyond telecommunications, SpaceX remains heavily involved in international space exploration initiatives.

The company is expected to play a key role in future lunar missions under programmes being developed by the United States space agency.

SpaceX is currently developing technologies intended to support future lunar landing operations as part of broader efforts to advance human space exploration.

According to publicly announced plans, the company is also pursuing long-term objectives related to human missions to Mars.

Musk has repeatedly identified interplanetary exploration as a strategic priority for the company and has outlined plans aimed at establishing a long-term human presence on the planet.

They noted that SpaceX has consistently expanded the capabilities of private spaceflight through innovations in reusable rocket technology and commercial launch services.

Since its establishment in 2002, the company has played a significant role in transforming the global space industry through increased private-sector participation.

SpaceX achieved a major milestone in 2012 when it became the first private company to successfully dock a spacecraft with the International Space Station.

The company later became the first private operator to transport astronauts to the station, helping restore independent crew transportation capabilities for the United States.

They added that investor interest is being driven by expectations surrounding artificial intelligence, satellite internet services, semiconductor production and future space exploration projects.

The planned offering is expected to attract strong attention from institutional investors seeking exposure to one of the world’s largest private technology and aerospace companies.

If completed as proposed, the transaction would establish a new benchmark for public share offerings and further strengthen SpaceX’s position as one of the most valuable companies in the global technology sector.
