Dangote Group Signs $400 Million Deal with XCMG for Refinery Expansion

Dangote Group has signed a $400 million agreement with XCMG Construction Machinery to supply equipment for expanding its refinery and industrial operations across Africa. The partnership is expected to enhance production capacity at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and accelerate the execution of major industrial projects.

The phased deployment of the equipment over three years is designed to boost the refinery’s output from 650,000 barrels per day to roughly 1.4 million barrels per day, making it one of the largest single-train refineries in the world. According to the company, the additional machinery will support ongoing projects and strengthen execution across its expanding portfolio.

The expansion aligns with Dangote Group’s broader industrial growth strategy, aimed at enhancing domestic production and regional value chains. Polypropylene production is expected to increase from 900,000 to 2.4 million metric tonnes annually, urea output in Nigeria will triple from three million to nine million metric tonnes, and Linear Alkyl Benzene production will reach 400,000 metric tonnes, making the company Africa’s largest producer. New base oil production is also planned.

The investment is expected to accelerate civil works, logistics, and plant installations across project sites, reinforcing Dangote Group’s ambition to become a leading industrial operator globally.
