Tinubu, AFRICOM Commander Deepen Security Ties

President Bola Tinubu has met with the Commander of the United States Africa Command, General Dagvin Anderson, alongside senior Nigerian and American security officials in Abuja.

The high-level engagement underscored expanding defence and security cooperation between Nigeria and the United States, particularly in response to terrorism, insurgency and regional instability.

Nigeria’s top security chiefs attended the meeting, including the National Security Adviser, the Defence Minister, and service chiefs across the armed forces and intelligence agencies. The US delegation included senior diplomatic and military representatives.

While no details of the discussions were disclosed, the talks come as Nigeria intensifies counterterrorism operations in the North-East and North-West and seeks broader regional security coordination across West Africa.
