Moniepoint Microfinance Bank says it processed transactions valued at ₦412 trillion and disbursed more than ₦1 trillion in loans in 2025, underscoring its growing role in Nigeria’s informal economy.

The figures were released by Moniepoint Inc., the bank’s parent company, in its 2025 Year-in-Review report. According to the company, the bulk of its lending was directed at small and medium-sized enterprises, including retail shops, supermarkets, and building materials traders.

Moniepoint disclosed that it processed over 14 billion transactions during the year, accounting for an estimated 80 per cent of Nigeria’s in-person payment volumes. Its web payment gateway, Monnify, also recorded transactions worth ₦25 trillion, driven by rising adoption of online and business-to-business payments.

The fintech said businesses that accessed credit through its platform recorded average growth of more than 36 per cent after receiving loans. It added that it now serves over six million active businesses nationwide, using alternative data such as transaction patterns and payment behaviour to assess creditworthiness.

Beyond payments and lending, the company expanded its product offerings and regulatory reach during the year, including relaunching its savings product, introducing new tools for businesses, and securing additional operating licences to broaden its financial services footprint across Africa.
