Sanwo-Olu Signs ₦4.4 Trillion Lagos 2026 Budget Into Law

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has signed the ₦4.4 trillion 2026 appropriation bill into law, marking the official commencement of the state’s fiscal plan for the year.

The signing ceremony took place at the Lagos House, Alausa, following the passage of the budget by the Lagos State House of Assembly earlier in the month.

The budget, tagged “Budget of Shared Prosperity,” authorises total expenditure of ₦4,444,509,776,438 for the 2026 financial year and is designed to drive inclusive growth and improve living standards across the state.

Senior government officials, including the deputy governor, members of the executive council, top civil servants and lawmakers, were present at the event.

While presenting the budget proposal to the legislature in November 2025, the governor stated that the fiscal plan was structured to address poverty, expand opportunities and deliver tangible benefits to residents.

He explained that the 2026 budget is built on four core pillars: a people-focused development approach, modern infrastructure expansion, economic growth, and effective governance. These priorities align with the administration’s development framework aimed at building a more prosperous and functional Lagos.

The government expressed confidence that the implementation of the budget would accelerate development, strengthen public services and support long-term economic sustainability in the state.
