JUST IN: Tinubu Chairs Emergency FEC Meeting Ahead of Budget Presentation
President Bola Tinubu on Friday presided over an emergency meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the State House in Abuja, hours before the presentation of the 2026 budget to the National Assembly.
Vice President Kashim Shettima explained that the meeting was convened to give final clearance to the budget estimates and ensure alignment before submission to lawmakers. He said the Council met to formally endorse the proposals to be laid before the legislature.
The emergency session followed earlier cabinet meetings where the core assumptions of the 2026–2028 fiscal framework were reviewed, including oil production and revenue projections. Officials indicated that a conservative crude output estimate would guide budget planning.
Senior government officials present included top members of the cabinet and key presidential aides, underscoring the importance attached to the final approval process.
