Dangote Refinery to Supply 1.5bn Litres of Petrol Monthly from December

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced its readiness to supply 1.5 billion litres of petrol monthly—about 50 million litres per day—beginning in December 2025. The volume is expected to increase to 1.7 billion litres per month from February 2026, according to a letter addressed to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

Signed by the refinery’s CEO, David Bird, the letter requested that regulatory officials be stationed onsite from December 1 to verify and publicly release daily production and stock levels. The company said full transparency would boost confidence in domestic fuel availability.

Dangote Refinery also called for uninterrupted clearance of crude, feedstocks, and blending components, stating that delays have led to higher operational costs and supply inefficiencies. The refinery stressed that its output would support the country’s fuel security strategy and promote the government’s “Nigeria First” policy aimed at prioritising local production over imports.

The assurance comes at a time when the downstream sector continues to face supply challenges, with domestic production falling short of national demand.
