The Federal Government will work with key stakeholders to chart strategies for implementing the new National Industrial Policy, aimed at scaling industries and driving West Africa’s economic growth.

This engagement will headline discussions at the West Africa Industrialisation, Manufacturing & Trade Summit & Exhibition 2025, scheduled for October in Lagos.

Speaking at a press briefing, the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Sen. John Uwan-Enoh, said the policy builds on past executive orders promoting local content, with a stronger push under the Nigeria First initiative.

“The previous administrations have tried to enable industrial growth by coming up with various executive orders. With the announcement of the Nigeria First policy, what becomes of it will be a function of what this administration does,” he stated.

He announced plans for a national campaign promoting patronage of Nigerian goods and services, estimating potential short-term earnings of N3 trillion if consumer attitudes shift.

Enoh noted that reforms such as exchange-rate harmonisation were already stabilising the economy despite challenges. He added that consistency and stability remain key to attracting the scale of foreign investment needed.

The minister described the Summit as “a platform to accelerate Africa’s march towards true industrialisation” by unlocking the potential of MSMEs and manufacturing resources.

Organisers dmg Nigeria Events confirmed that the Summit, themed “Accelerating West Africa’s Sustainable Industrial Revolution for Economic Prosperity,” will gather policymakers, business leaders, and investors across manufacturing, finance, infrastructure, energy, logistics, and technology.

Country Director Wemimo Oyelana said the event would go beyond dialogue to generate “practical solutions to strengthen industries, drive trade, and create opportunities for West Africans.”

The Summit will take place at the Landmark Centre, Lagos in October 2025.
