EKEDC’s Rekiat Momoh Named Among Nigeria’s Top 50 Best Performing CEOs at Business Times 2025 Forum & Awards

The Lagos Oriental Hotel played host to Nigeria’s most distinguished business leaders as The Business Times CEO Forum & Awards 2025 unveiled the nation’s Top 50 Best Performing CEOs, with Mrs. Rekiat Momoh, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), earning prominent recognition among the elite honorees.

The prestigious event, themed “Innovation & Disruption: Leading the Next Wave of Nigeria’s Business Transformation,” brought together corporate titans, industry innovators, and thought leaders for a comprehensive program featuring strategic discussions, an awards ceremony, and networking opportunities that underscored Nigeria’s evolving business landscape.

Mrs. Momoh’s inclusion among Nigeria’s top-performing CEOs represents the continuation of an extraordinary recognition trajectory that began with her appointment as EKEDC’s Acting CEO in March 2024. Her selection for this coveted honor builds upon a remarkable series of accolades, including the recent Energy Times Power Sector CEO of the Year Award and EKEDC’s Best Customer Care (Electricity Distribution) recognition at the 14th West Africa Innovation Awards in 2025.

Within months of assuming leadership, she orchestrated EKEDC’s achievement of extraordinary efficiency improvements, with Aggregated Technical, Commercial, and Collection (ATC&C) losses plummeting to 10.51% in March 2024 from 30.87% in February, a remarkable accomplishment in an industry where such dramatic improvements typically require years to achieve.

Under her guidance, EKEDC achieved an exceptional 99% collection efficiency in March 2024, billing ₦15.8 billion while collecting ₦15.7 billion and in April, 2025 achieved 100% collection efficiency of 38.7 billion, rising by 28.82 per cent. This financial discipline has established EKEDC as the revenue leader among Nigeria’s distribution companies.

Momoh’s first-year achievements include accelerated infrastructure development throughout EKEDC’s network, with the completion of multiple new 11kV and 33kV injection substations extending reliable electricity access to additional communities. These infrastructure investments reflect her commitment to sustainable growth and improved service delivery.

Momoh’s recognition at The Business Times CEO Forum & Awards aligns perfectly with the event’s innovation theme. Her leadership in implementing EKEDC’s All-In-One (AIO) customer experience vending platform exemplifies the disruptive thinking celebrated at the forum. The AIO platform migration, completed between October 18-21, 2024, revolutionized customer interactions through enhanced transaction capabilities, improved balance checks, and streamlined billing processes.

This technological advancement enabled EKEDC to better manage customer data while providing customers with comprehensive self-service options a transformation that directly addresses systemic challenges within Nigeria’s power sector.
