Presidency Orders Quick Action on Delayed Road Project Payments

President Bola Tinubu has stepped in to prevent a possible halt in major road projects under the NNPCL Tax Credit Scheme by ordering immediate action to resume payments to contractors.

This decision comes amid fears from state governments and contractors over delayed funds that threatened key infrastructure works. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, relayed the president’s directive, assuring that all certified debts would be settled and no project would be left incomplete.

Contractors have been instructed to return to site, while updated plans and scopes must be submitted for priority routes within seven days. Umahi also announced the creation of a monitoring team to verify data and ensure transparency across projects.

He emphasized that proper inspection will be carried out nationwide, with input from the media to ensure public accountability. Any disputes left unresolved after the deadline will be escalated to the presidency.

The government says these moves are part of its wider commitment to drive infrastructure development under the Renewed Hope agenda.
