The Business Times joins the nation in mourning the passing of Sir Ifeanyi Atueyi, a pioneering figure in Nigeria’s pharmaceutical and publishing industries, who died on 15 July 2025, at the age of 85.

Sir Atueyi, a man whose life was defined by faith, integrity, and public service, was the Founder and Publisher of Pharmanews, a leading healthcare journal he established in 1979. For over four decades, Pharmanews served as a trusted platform for pharmacists, policymakers, and students across Africa, championing professionalism, ethics, and development in healthcare journalism.

A true pioneer, Sir Atueyi was more than a publisher—he was a mentor, advocate, and thought leader. His dedication to youth development was evident in his long-standing support for the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria Students (PANS), as well as his numerous speaking engagements and writings, through which he promoted values of service, discipline, and moral responsibility.

He was also a cherished part of The Business Times community, having featured as a speaker at several of its business leadership and economic forums. His participation was once again expected at the forthcoming Best Performing CEOs Awards & Summit, scheduled for 30 July 2025, underscoring his enduring relevance in conversations around leadership and national transformation.

A Knight of the Order of Saint Christopher (KSC) and Fellow of various professional bodies, Sir Atueyi received multiple accolades in recognition of his outstanding contributions to pharmacy, publishing, and nation-building.

As tributes pour in, The Business Times extends heartfelt condolences to his family, the Pharmanews team, and all who were privileged to know and learn from him.

Sir Ifeanyi Atueyi’s legacy of purpose, faith, and excellence will continue to inspire generations.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.
