NCC Approves Roaming Deal Between MTN and 9Mobil

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has approved a three-year national roaming agreement between MTN Nigeria and 9Mobile, allowing 9Mobile subscribers to access MTN’s network infrastructure nationwide.

The announcement was made in a statement issued to the Nigerian Exchange and the investing public by MTN Nigeria. Under the deal, 9Mobile users will gain seamless access to MTN’s wider network in areas where their own infrastructure is limited.

MTN Nigeria described the agreement as a move to boost industry collaboration and improve operational efficiency. The arrangement supports infrastructure sharing and enhances mobile connectivity across Nigeria.

MTN CEO, Karl Toriola, welcomed the development, saying it demonstrates what can be achieved through public-private collaboration. He emphasized that such partnerships are crucial to expanding connectivity and delivering quality telecommunications services at scale in Nigeria.

The roaming deal is expected to enhance service delivery, reduce network gaps, and support the NCC’s goal of a fully connected Nigeria.
