The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) marked the launch of new retail stations with free petrol giveaways to early customers.

At its newly opened location on Airport Road, Abuja, over 200 motorcycle riders and other early buyers received five litres of fuel at no cost.

The company extended the same gesture to residents of Bauchi, celebrating the opening of a new station along the Kano–Ningi Road on April 17, 2025.

The promotion coincides with a recent petrol price cut by NNPC, which reduced the pump price in Lagos from ₦910 to ₦880 per litre. In Abuja, the price dropped from ₦950 to ₦935 per litre.

These changes come shortly after Dangote’s refinery announced a lower ex-depot price of ₦835 per litre, down from ₦865. The adjustment by NNPC reflects competitive pricing moves and is expected to ripple across the retail fuel market, with other marketers like MRS, Heyden, and Ardova adjusting their rates accordingly.
