TCN Reports Significant Increase in Nigeria’s Power Generation, Reaching 5,713MW

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported a significant milestone in the country’s power sector, with electricity generation reaching a four-year high of 5,713.60 megawatts on Tuesday.

According to a statement issued by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on Tuesday, the country’s power grid achieved a peak generation of 5,713.60 megawatts, marking the highest level recorded in 2025, with the electricity successfully transmitted nationwide.”

The new milestone surpasses the previous peak of 5,543.20MW recorded on February 14 by 170.40MW.

According to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), a new peak generation record of 5,713.60 megawatts (MW) was achieved on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 21:30 hours. This surpasses the previous record of 5,543.20 MW set on February 14, 2025, by a margin of 170.40 MW.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) reports that a new peak generation milestone of 5,713.60 megawatts (MW) was attained on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 21:30 hours. This achievement exceeds the previous peak generation of 5,543.20 MW recorded on February 14, 2025, by 170.40 MW.

However, TCN noted that while the latest peak is 88MW lower than the all-time record of 5,801.60MW set on March 1, 2021, it remains a significant achievement.

Furthermore, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced a new record for maximum daily energy generation, reaching 125,542.06 megawatt-hours (MWh). This achievement surpasses the previous record of 125,159.48 MWh set in February, marking a significant milestone in the company’s energy generation capabilities.

This surpasses the previous record of 125,159.48MWh achieved on February 14, 2025, by 382.58 MWh,” the statement added.
