Economy: Ogun Empowers 40,000 Women On ” Okowo Dapo” Scheme To Boost Businesses

No fewer than 40,000 women across the 20 Local Government Area of Ogun State have benefited from another batch of ” Okowo Dapo” empowerment scheme to expand their Small and Medium Scale Enterprise(SMEs) and boost operations in the face of hash economy occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.

Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Adijat Adeleye, revealed this during a day training organised for wards facilitators of the scheme, at the Oba’s Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the state capital.

Adeleye, who said that Governor Dapo Abiodun led administration embarked on the grants to empower women by supporting their businesses to alleviate poverty and promote economic growth inorder to cushion the effects of economic hardship

She implored the participants to use the grants judiciously and utilise the knowledge gained at the training to run their businesses for more expansion to gain financial independence and enable led them improve their livelihood and living conditions.

The commissioner urged the women to bring up initiatives that would enhance their business growth and be proactive in making use of the resources at hand so as to spur the governor to increase future grants to expand their businesses.
