Nestle, Honeywell Drive Nigerian Equity Market to N257bn Gain

The Nigerian equity market saw a significant gain on Thursday, May 16, 2025, as investors turned their attention to consumer goods and industrial stocks.

The market capitalization rose by N257 billion, reaching N68.8 trillion, up from N68.54 trillion in the previous session. The All-Share Index also gained 408.31 points, representing a 0.37% increase, closing at 109,467.64 basis points.

Nestle Nigeria emerged as the top gainer, appreciating by 10% to close at N1,331.00 per share. Honeywell Flour Mill followed closely, also gaining 10% to settle at N16.50. Beta Glass recorded a 9.98% increase, closing at N213.70 per share. Other notable performers included NPF Microfinance Bank, which saw a 9.81% rise to N2.35 per share, and Neimeth Pharmaceuticals, which ended the day at N3.37 after a 9.77% increase.

On the losing side, Multiverse Mining & Exploration led with a 9.64% decline to N8.90 per share. Wapic Insurance lost 4.74%, closing at N2.01, while Lasaco Assurance fell by 4.53% to N2.32. May & Baker Nigeria recorded a 3.82% drop, closing at N12.60 per share.

The trading session saw a notable increase in market activity, with investors exchanging 729.88 million shares worth N13.88 billion across 14,743 deals. This marked a 37
