Payaza Secures ‘A’ Credit Ratings Upgrade Across Four Agencies

Payaza Africa Limited has received improved credit ratings from four rating agencies, reflecting growing confidence in the fintech company’s financial strength, governance, and operational performance.

The upgraded ratings came from DataPro, Intelligence Africa, Agusto, and Global Credit Rating Co., with all agencies revising the company’s standing upward across multiple rating categories.

DataPro upgraded Payaza from A to AA-, while Intelligence Africa assigned it an A- investment-grade rating. Agusto raised its rating from BBB to A-, and GCR also moved the company from BBB to A-.

A credit rating assesses a company’s ability to meet its financial obligations and is widely used by investors and lenders as an indicator of risk and stability.

In a statement, Payaza described the upgrades as validation of its disciplined growth strategy and operational resilience in the competitive fintech sector. The company added that the ratings strengthen its positioning as a future-ready financial technology brand with expanding relevance across Africa and global markets.

Speaking on the development, the Chief Executive Officer of Payaza Africa, Seyi Ebenezer, said the improved ratings reflect years of deliberate effort to build a sustainable and globally competitive institution.

“This milestone is a strong affirmation of the work we have done to build Payaza on a foundation of discipline, trust, and long-term value creation,” he said.

According to him, the upgrades go beyond financial performance, highlighting the company’s risk management discipline and execution capacity.

“These new ratings are expected to further strengthen Payaza’s standing with investors, regulators, partners, enterprise clients, and the wider financial community,” he added.

Payaza Africa provides payment infrastructure solutions for businesses, including collections, payouts, embedded finance, and digital commerce services across Africa.

The company has expanded its ecosystem with products such as Payaza Checkout, Chat and Pay by Payaza, Payaza Give, and Shopaza, its e-commerce platform designed to support seamless business transactions.
